Property type: Mid Terrace 1860s town house.
Project: Earthwise Construction provided Project Management for the implementation DECC funded energy efficiency pilot project.
Challenges: The project involved fitting external wall insulation (EWI) to the front and rear of the property, as the house had extensive period features, careful management was required to ensure that all the original features where reinstated to achieve a like for like match.
Overview: The project was a pilot project carried out for the Department for Energy and Climate Change as part of the Green Deal Pioneering Places project. The brief was to 1st undertake a green deal assessment at the property, then to carry out the recommended works as highlighted in the assessment. This involved the installation of EWI to all the external walls, a new A Rated boiler with Flue Gas heat recovery unit, new heating controls and low energy lighting.
Materials used: These included 100mm phenolic insulation with a polymer based render finish. Sedbuk A rated gas boiler with a Gas Saver flue gas heat recovery (FGHR) unit fitted.
